Happy Christmas!

There is something special about the feel of December. The coldness of the wind, the anticipation that hangs in the air, the smells that begin to change as we move to Christmas Day. Christmas eve comes and the excitement builds and I walk into church before the midnight service and it feels special. Then comes Christmas day-a day of excitement for all ages.

Christmas is always seen as time of giving and receiving but I strongly believe this should be the basis of our relationship with Christ and our neighbour throughout the year.

With this in mind next year in June 2016 I will be using part of my Retreat to cycle 1100km to be in the presence of God and Creation riding the ancient pilgrimage route through France to Santiago De Compostela . As part of that cycle ride I am going to offer it up as a way of supporting the work of the;

  • 8 church communities within our Benefice,
  • to support the work of Combat Stress
  • An organisation called PTSD support for families
  • and Us formerly USPG who provide mission support throughout the world.

I would like to raise a minimum of £1000 per group, more would be better, but to be split across these groups.

I have created a justgiving page which will be launched in the New Year to raise funds, a letter will be sent to all households in the Benefice, on Face book, through twitter and our website unitedbenfice.com. You can, if you don’t have a computer or can’t wait to help, also provide financial support or by sponsorship in paper form which can be obtained from myself.

I do hope that you are able to help these wonderful people in the work they do for the local community, national and internationally.

If you would like to support me in achieving this as I still need to raise funds to complete this Bike Ride please contact me separately my details are in the magazine on our website unitedbenefice.com or by tel 01359 250239.

God blessings upon you all and a very Merry and Peaceful Christmas and Happy New Year
