A huge thank you…
Three years ago I arrived in the Benefice to continue my training as a Church of England Priest and to serve you as Assistant Curate in our churches. I did not know what to expect, how I was going to be received by everyone and how on earth a priest managed to look after five different churches! Well those five churches quickly turned into eight and each day, with God’s help, the strength is found to keep it all together. In fact, it is a delight to work with such variety and with all the members of our churches who actually do the hard work of keeping God’s light alive.
I have been astounded by the way Dennis and I have been received by the communities around us and have been blessed by the way many have taken us into their hearts. It has been a real privilege to be able to enter the homes of those in celebration but also humbling to be able to sit with and walk besides those in pain. I hope beyond measure that I was able at some point to be able to bring God’s comfort to you.
There have been many happy moments in the time I have spent here, far too many to name, however, getting to know those who live here has been the ultimate joy. Also being able to attempt something creative and seeing our new venture ‘Cafe Church’ in Stanton grow, the way in which people have come along and engaged with what we are doing has been a real blessing.
As you may have heard, my training is finally over and I have had the rubber stamp of approval from the Bishop! I have left the Benefice to become the Parish Priest of one church, St Peter’s in Brandon, Suffolk. My licensing at this church will take place on Wednesday 7th September at 7.30pm and is open for you to attend if you can make it, you will be warmly welcomed.
I will hold my time here like treasure in my heart and hope that friendships will continue … you know where I am … especially on Sundays!
Thank you for making me feel part of this community.
